Due to the large number of staff and students who have tested positive or been quarantined due to COVID-19, DUCS will move to a Full Virtual Learning Platform starting Monday, November 9th through Tuesday, November 24th (Thanksgiving Break). At this moment, face-to-face instruction will resume on Monday, November 30th. Starting Monday, November 9th:
▶️Assignments will be posted in the student’s Seesaw Learning or Google Classroom by 9:00 AM every day. The junior/senior high school will still run on a black/gold schedule. Please refer to Facebook, Instagram or the school website for the day of instruction.
▶️Teachers will be available from 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM by email and 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM by Google Meet. To access your teacher virtually, use the Virtual Wednesday Google Meet Link found at DuggerUnionSchools.org (Click Virtual Learning, Click Virtual Wednesday).
▶️Full virtual learning IS NOT eLearning. Students are expected to log on to Google Classroom or Seesaw Learning daily. As outlined by the Indiana Department of Education, junior high and senior high school students should expect their lessons to take six hours, and elementary students should expect to spend five hours per day on their lessons.
▶️Any student who needs books or any other personal belongings may contact the office at (812) 648-7109. Items may be picked up curbside from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. DUCS staff will be available, but the building will remain closed to students.
▶️Breakfast and lunch meals may be picked up daily curbside from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM from the south entrance.
▶️All athletic games scheduled during the virtual learning period will be postponed. DUCS Athletic Department will make every effort to reschedule cancelled games.
▶️ALL Extra Curricular and Athletic practices are cancelled during the virtual learning period.
▶️Student attendance will be done the same way it has been done on Virtual Wednesdays. All students will need to answer a daily attendance question on the day the question is given to be counted present for the day.
▶️Wednesday, Nov. 25-Friday, Nov. 27 is the regularly scheduled Thanksgiving Break. Students will have virtual learning on Monday and Tuesday.
▶️The regularly scheduled public board meeting for Monday, Nov. 9 will take place in the cafeteria as scheduled, but the public is strongly advised to join the meeting via Facebook Live on our school Facebook page beginning at 7:00 PM.
▶️High school students enrolled in Ivy Tech courses will need to follow the schedule set forth by Ivy Tech.
